Therapeutic Landscapes

Transformation of a long, previously unused garden into a therapeutic landscape conceived as a journey through recovery.

The garden moves from places of shelter and solitude through a sun garden, meditation maze and richly textured planting towards a working garden — reflecting the gradual return of capacity to participate, make, grow and engage with others.

Accessible paths and nature-led planting create a lush, woodland-like environment with choice at its heart: places to retreat, walk, sit, garden or join the wider community. The garden continues to evolve through the care of patients and volunteers.
